OK I just bought a as-is Apple Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66 GHz (late 2006) MA607LL/A off eBay as a parts machine. The seller describes the unit as powers on, the power on light lights up, but system doesn’t chime (or bong, whatever you want to call it) and doesn’t boot. the hard drive and memory have been removed from the unit, and it doesn’t have the AC power brick with it. I got it for 100 dollars with shipping. I purchased a new power brick for 38 dollars with free shipping, so now I’m just waiting for everything to ship in. I like Mac OSX Snow Leopard and have been running it on my Gigabyte Hackintosh Core 2 Duo system, and I’m excited to get the chance to maybe get to run it on an actual Apple Mac Mini system. I’ve downloaded the official Apple Service Manuals for this model Mac Mini and it sounds like I’ve got a pretty good chance of being able to revive the Mini. It sounds like the Pram battery has died, or the PMU needs to be reset, we’ll see. hopefully it didn’t die because of the infamous 10.6.3 Snow Leopard update that I’ve read about that caused some mac mini systems to die.
I’ll post an update article later on in the month after I’ve gotten the Mini and the AC Adapter in and have had a chance to work on it. I'm working a 12 hour work shift now that has me off on Sunday-Tuesday every week, and Sunday-Wednesday every other week depending on my shift rotation. Some of my work weeks are Wednesday – Saturday other weeks are Thursday – Saturday.
Until then I remain your Obedient Servant,
Doctor Evil
